When the strength, form or ingredients your doctor wants don't exist off the shelf, our pharmacists prepare it — creams, ointments, lotions, gels, capsules, liquids, and flavoured versions for children — on site at all three of our Calgary stores.

What we compound
If it can be prescribed, it can usually be compounded. The common requests:
- Topical creams, ointments, gels and lotions — including pain and anti-inflammatory preparations applied where they're needed.
- Capsules in strengths that aren't manufactured.
- Liquids and suspensions for people who can't swallow tablets.

Who compounding helps
Allergies and sensitivities: we leave out the ingredient that causes the problem. Difficulty swallowing: the same medicine as a liquid, cream or gel. Children: a dose sized for them, in a flavour they'll take. Chronic pain: topical preparations tailored to the dose your prescriber wants. Unavailable strengths: a prescriber can ask for exactly what a patient needs, not the nearest manufactured size.
How it works
You need a prescription from your doctor, nurse practitioner or other prescriber — compounding starts there. Bring it to any of our three stores or have it sent to us. A pharmacist checks the formulation with your prescriber where needed, prepares it on site, and calls you when it's ready. Turnaround depends on the preparation; we tell you the timing when you drop it off. Refills are made to the same formula each time.

How long does it take?
Same-day compounding is available. Contact your chosen store to confirm timing for your prescription. We call when it is ready; delivery arrangements and timing are confirmed separately.
Is compounded medication different from what I'd get in a box?
It's the same active ingredient, prepared in the strength, form and flavour your prescriber asked for instead of the nearest mass-produced version. It is made for you, not stocked in advance.
