Who needs the yellow fever vaccine
Yellow fever is spread by mosquitoes in parts of Africa and South America. Some countries require proof of vaccination to enter, and others require it if you're arriving from a country where yellow fever occurs. The pharmacist checks your exact route — including layovers — and tells you whether you need the vaccine, the certificate, or both.
What to bring
Your passport, your travel dates and destinations, and your vaccination record if you have one. If you've had the yellow fever vaccine before, bring the old certificate — you may not need another dose.
How the certificate works
You get the International Certificate of Vaccination (the yellow card) at the visit. It becomes valid ten days after the shot, so plan to be vaccinated at least ten days before you enter a country that requires it. Since 2016 a single dose is accepted as valid for life.
Who should talk to us first
The vaccine is not recommended for infants under 9 months, during pregnancy, or for people with a weakened immune system, and needs a discussion for adults over 60. If any of these apply, book a consultation and the pharmacist will go through the options with you.

How long before I travel should I get it?
At least ten days before you enter a country that requires the certificate, because that's when the certificate becomes valid. Earlier is fine.
How long does the yellow fever vaccine last?
One dose gives long-lasting protection, and the certificate has been valid for life since 2016 under WHO rules. Some people with certain health conditions may be advised to have a booster — the pharmacist will tell you if that applies to you.
